Kids for Compassion Summer Camp July 14 -18

Goatlandia’s Kids for Compassion Summer Camp is where fun, friendship, and furry friends come together!

Each day kicks off with smiles and snuggles before campers, ages 6–12, embark on exciting, hands-on adventures.

From goat hikes and kids' yoga to a plant-based ice cream taste test, there’s never a dull moment. Along the way, expert guests will share cool insights about animal behavior, healthy eating, sustainability, and the power of kindness.

The grand finale? A special family tour on the last day, plus free passes for a weekend visit—because compassion is even better when shared!

Meet Our Camp Teachers!

Todd Shadbourne

Todd is a passionate educator, confident in the idea that every student can learn.  His 31 years of teaching experience have allowed him to work with students in grades K-6, and he prides himself on creating a collaborative learning environment where every student is a valued member of the learning community.  By working together and building on our curiosity, Todd aims to build a culture of compassion and respect. As a vegetarian for 35+ years, he understands how the choices we make with our food affect our physical and mental health, and he enjoys celebrating the benefits of a mindful diet.

In his free time, Todd seeks adventure outdoors. He’s an avid runner, who also enjoys hiking, camping, mountain biking, and kayaking.  He explores California extensively, looking for public art, open space, good coffee, and friendly people.

As the Director of Kids Camp ‘25, Todd will help facilitate a rich program to meet the needs of a unique set of campers. Anticipate a fun, active, artful experience, shaped by compassion and fueled by a belief that we can all make a difference.

Reede Shadbourne

Reede is excited to be teaching Kids Camp at Goatlandia Farm Animal Sanctuary alongside her dad, Todd Shadbourne. Her connection with Goatlandia began in college when she interned at the sanctuary, and she later served as Director of Operations for two years. A lifelong vegetarian, Reede has always been passionate about animals, which inspired her to study agricultural science and education.

Having raised goats at Goatlandia from birth—goats who still recognize her today—Reede holds a deep, personal bond with the sanctuary and its residents. Her family’s involvement with Goatlandia was continuous through Reede’s employment and beyond, making this opportunity to teach at camp with her dad especially meaningful. She considers Executive Director Deborah Blum a personal idol and cherished friend, and she’s thrilled to share her love for animals and the sanctuary with campers this season.
