Founder Deborah Blum has loved goats since she was a kid. "Goats are really special beings," she says. "They’re friendly, curious, and full of personality—kind of like dogs with hooves!" Goats are highly social, intelligent, and even adventurous—some even hike, surf, and love belly rubs. But despite their charm, goats are among the most exploited farm animals in the world. Many people don’t realize that goats, like cows, are raised for dairy and meat production. In the dairy industry, male goats are considered useless because they can’t produce milk. Without intervention, many are killed shortly after birth.

Every year, Goatlandia rescues a large number of baby goats from dairy farms, giving them the chance to grow up in a safe, loving environment instead. We also provide sanctuary to abused, abandoned, and special-needs animals who have nowhere else to go. Beyond the dairy and meat industries, goats also suffer in the fabric trade. Cashmere and Angora goats are often shorn in the freezing winter months, leaving them vulnerable to extreme cold. Many die from exposure, while others are discarded because their coats don’t meet industry standards. At Goatlandia, we believe all animals deserve to live happy, cruelty-free lives. By rescuing and advocating for goats and other farm animals, we’re creating a space where people can learn, connect, and be part of a more compassionate future.
